Gold Coast couple get ready for resort-style retirement
With a move to Essence on the cards, there is so much to look forward to!
For Vicki Gibson and Anthony Kolder, relaxation is top of their retirement wish list.
That’s why they’re getting ready to move to Esperance – our exclusive resort-style waterfront community in the heart of Hope Island, on the Gold Coast.
At the moment, the couple must navigate seventeen steps to the top floor of their three-storey townhouse in Reedy Creek, and they’re concerned for safety.
Both in their 70s, Anthony says it’s time for a change.
“Our home has everything we need, but Vicki does the cleaning, and the upkeep of the pool and garden are a burden – it's time to enjoy a more relaxed style of living,” he said.
“Esperance stood out for its fantastic location, and we realised we wouldn’t be sacrificing our current lifestyle – just getting a better one.
“Once we move in, it won’t be a drastic change for us; everything we enjoy is there, except it will be resort-style living with onsite maintenance - and no stairs!”
Settled along an expansive canal, Esperance offers 150 metres of continuous waterfront views.
World class amenities, akin to a 5-star hotel, include a health club with indoor therapy-focused pool, yoga studio, gym, health consulting rooms and group fitness lawn.
With various apartment layout options available, Vicki and Anthony chose a top-floor residence, with three bedrooms and two bathrooms, as well as views of Stradbroke Island, Surfers Paradise and the surrounding hinterlands.
The functional, contemporary layout with premium finishes, boasts free-flowing living between the kitchen, dining lounge and outdoor areas, making daily life effortless.
“I can be watching footy in the lounge, and Vicki can be in the kitchen, so we can be separate but always connected,” said Anthony.
As well as high ceilings, generous hallways and large balconies, the bedrooms are spacious and include a master-suite with a walk-in wardrobe.
There is also a study nook and a deluxe kitchen with stone benchtops, splashbacks and Smeg appliances.
Vicki said: “I love cooking, so I’m excited about my great kitchen with a chef’s pantry.
“The apartment will be lovely and filled with our own furniture. There’s lots of space so there’s room for everything.
“Being only 40 minutes from Brisbane means we can see live shows and art exhibitions without staying overnight in a hotel.
“We will also take our grandson to the cinema for movie nights.”
With a vibrant social calendar and a lifestyle concierge to oversee it all, the couple are keen to immerse themselves in the community.
Anthony, an avid woodworker, is interested in bridge and excited to find a group to play with, while Vicki is keen to walk the expansive gardens and boardwalks.
Anthony added: “We can be as busy or as lazy as we like, but we’re looking forward to the various ‘Happy Hours’ and the ‘Gin and Tonic Walks’.”
