Gold Coast retirees get the scoop on ageing well
Local retirees turned out in force to hear from Kay McGrath and a panel of retirement living experts at a special event, Tailor your Retirement, to have all their questions answered and get tips on living well at any age.
We recently welcomed 60 Gold Coast retirees to Links Hope Island Golf Club to hear from award-winning journalist, news presenter and seniors advocate Kay McGrath, and a panel of independent experts and professionals about how to make the most of retirement.
Our panellists covered a wide range of topics including care options, resident services and amenity, contract options, financial benefits and the state of the current property market, leaving guests feeling confident and inspired about this exciting stage of life.
If you weren’t able to make it on the day, here’s a quick snapshot of the insightful advice shared by our panellists!

Making your investments work for you with Peter Audet of Varria Personal Financial Advisers
Peter shared his tips for living a long and fulfilling life, saying “you only need enough money to get by every week plus five dollars”. Real wealth comes from how you choose to live your life and Peter recommends looking at retirement as your time to enjoy what you love most.
Understanding retirement living contracts with Danielle Lim of DSL Law
For many people, the retirement living model is unlike anything they have experienced before and can be confusing. Danielle shared some great information about how the Retirement Villages Act actually works in favour of residents and protects people at every stage of their journey.
Care and support that works for you with Simon Lockyer of Five Good Friends
