Residents dive into a new wave of health
Just weeks since opening, Esperance residents have already taken to hydrotherapy classes like a duck to water.
An accredited Exercise Physiologist and Exercise Scientist, Joel Wearn and his team run weekly aqua aerobics classes, a fortnightly rehabilitation hydrotherapy class and one-on-one gym inductions at Esperance due to popular demand.
“Esperance is an amazing place to work, with exceptional gym and pool facilities,” he said.
“The initial feedback has been exceptional with class numbers building up rapidly.”
Impressed by the facilities, Joel says the hydrotherapy pool is second to none and a great way for residents to get fit and healthy.
“The indoor hydrotherapy pool is very impressive and is much better (size/design)than other hydrotherapy pools in the area.” he said.
Joel runs a weekly aqua aerobics class for 45 minutes, it’s a medium paced, fun class for residents to move about.
For a slower paced class, Joel also runs a fortnightly rehabilitation hydrotherapy class with a focus for residents experiencing physical limitations.
While one-on-one gym inductions focus on safety and establishing a health program with residents.
“Hydrotherapy is an excellent low-impact exercise modality with many associated benefits including improved mobility and flexibility, enhanced circulation, stress reduction and relaxation, and is something we are going to maximise at Esperance.”
Esperance residents can book in their session with Joel directly via the Esperance app.
